VICS is a collaboration between Melbourne, Monash and RMIT Universities formed with financial support from a Victorian Government Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Infrastructure Grant.

The founder's vision was that VICS will become the leading multi-campus institute in Australia for teaching and research in the chemical sciences, having a critical mass of expertise and resources and recognized internationally for the quality and breadth of its research and the outstanding opportunities provided by its educational programs.
